My elevator
Hey, I’m Matt Anthony Wetta, born and raised in NOLA—a city that grabs you from day one, and we can’t even explain why. I’ve been working here since I was 16, taking on all kinds of jobs because nothing’s beneath me. I live by that old saying: give 110% to every gig, no matter what. I’ve done fast food, factory work, manual labor, landscaping—you name it—before finding my groove in retail. Surprising, right? Most people dread the holiday grind and endless customer chats, but I find it invigorating. I love making people feel good, brightening their day, and bringing back that sense of community we’ve kinda lost these days. When I’m on the sales floor, running the show, I picture myself in the 1920s—the golden age of retail. Real, legit sales, person-to-person. Sure, we’ve got B2B now, but I see all sales as P2P.

I want my vibe to feel human. I want folks walking into my store to feel like they’ve stepped into a time machine, back to when retail was king. None of that ‘Hey, how are you?’ generic stuff. Nah, I go with, ‘How’s your Sunday going?’ or ‘What do you do for a living?’—maybe even ‘You off work today?’ Then I share a bit about my life too. Once we connect like that, boom—a bond forms. I make the sale, they leave happy. That’s how retail should be.
The two companies I’ve seen nail this are Apple and J.Crew, which is why I’m at J.Crew now. I don’t plan on leaving—night shifts, weekends, whatever, I’m in it for the long haul.
On the flip side, I’m a creative, entrepreneurial guy. I’ve started multiple businesses, set up several LLCs, so I’ve got a solid grasp of how things work behind the scenes. Alongside that, I’m growing my marketing business—creating media, making content, being on camera, finding my voice. It’s taught me CRM, lead generation, inside and outside sales, time management—all that good stuff. I’ve learned to be a self-starter, think creatively to solve problems, and boost efficiency in my workflow. Time’s money, right?

That’s where I’m at in life. I’m happy with who I am and how I tackle work. What’s missing, though, is growing with a company I truly believe in. Jobs are out there, sure, but the ones I’m chasing? Super competitive—and that’s what drives me. I’m not about the mundane or those generic ‘KPI’ corporate textbook vibes. There’s a better way: focus on your environment, keep employees stoked, and chase leads creatively.
So, here’s what I bring to the table: 110% effort in any role, creative problem-solving, shaking up the status quo, thinking outside the box, and making money—for myself, the business, and others—all while staying real in a world full of corporate 101 nonsense.
